Honey Bees are Unique
If the bees are actually already inside your roof, a structure wall, or even something like a trash can or sprinkler control box, this means that the bees have already moved beyond the swarming stage and removing them could be a more difficult process.

When bees swarm, they leave their hive, often as many as 20,000 individuals, and may temporarily relocate. If you see a cluster of bees, usually about the size of a football, this is just bees hanging onto each other and there is not a 'hive' yet!

This is a large honeybee swarm, which decided to alight in a tree in a backyard. At this stage, 'scout bees' are out searching for a new permanent location.

If your bee problem is 10 or 20 bees flying in to a hole, crawling in, coming out and wandering around you almost certainly do not need a bee removal, YET!

These scout bees are 'just looking' and inspecting new locations. They fly back to the main swarm, which is somewhere nearby, to report. Once enough scout bees have decided on a new place, they all the bees fly to the new location, entering the cavity through a hole, which needs to be no bigger than 3/8" diameter!

Within 15 to 20 minutes, all 20,000+ bees will be inside and work will have started on building their new honeycombs. You can usually tell if you have a colony of bees inside such a place by watching the entrance carefully, especially during the warmest part of the day. If you see a continuous stream of bees flying backwards and forwards at the entrance, you probably do have a beehive problem.

You may even see some workers honeybees with pollen on their legs entering the hole. This all starts to happen within an hour or so of the swarm actually moving in, they have lots of work to do building a hive, collecting nectar to fuel their wax manufacture and pollen to feed the new young.

Once they have reached this stage they're here to stay and you have a bee swarm problem. Customers often tell me they noticed the bees a couple of months ago and thought they would leave, THEY WON'T!

If the bees are still at the swarm stage, perhaps hanging in a tree, I should warn you that although the swarm will almost certainly leave if it is left alone, that could be a big mistake!

If you allow the bee swarm to move from a tree into the roof of your house, or into the cavity of your wall, or under your shed, it is much more difficult to remove the bees and usually more expensive.

If you don't want to co-exist with a beehive, DON'T WAIT, call A Bee Man TODAY. Remember, unlike other pest control companies, we always attempt to relocate honeybees to professional beekeepers. See our Why Bees Are Important page

Wasps Family (Hornets & Yellow Jackets) Removal
Although wasps, hornets and yellow jackets do not produce honey and seldom help pollinate plants, the majority of the wasps, hornets and yellow jackets family is considered to be beneficial to humans. Why? They eat other insects that can destroy crops and flowers, as well as spiders that may present a greater health risk to you and your family.

However, wasps that nest in the ground can actually destroy your lawn if the wasp presents goes unchecked.

What separates yellow jackets from the rest of the wasp family is that yellow jackets are very social animals. Although yellow jackets build nests and live together, they do not produce any honey. However, yellow jackets can still kill many of the insects that would destroy your plants.

The size of Yellow jacket colonies do not even come close to reaching the numbers found in honey beehives. Yellow jackets do swarm more frequently and will discard a nest after its use. This is why it is not important to remove a vacated nest after it has been used. However, yellow jackets will forage close areas for any food source while the nest is under construction. This can ruin many outdoor barbeques and picnics.

Your best course of action is to call a professional like A Bee Man, to discuss your particular Wasp family problem.
